Modern - A fiction story with supernatural elements that would be imposible in real life
Animal - Fantasy stories where the characters are animals who talk, experience emotions, and have ability to
reason as humans.
Multicultural/ Diversity - Stories that include topics such as different cultures, heritages, or tradtions that people around the world celebrate.
Contemporary Realistic Fiction - Fictional stories that are set in modern times with events that could possibly occur.
Historical Fiction - Realistic story in a real world setting in the historical past with events that are partly historical but largely imaginative.
Biography/Autobiography/Nonfiction -
Biography - A nonfiction work describing the life of a real induvidual.
Autobiography - A person's written story about his/her life.
Nonfiction - Genres of traditional literature, biographies, informational books, poetry, etc.
Poetry/ Verse - Verses where words are selected and expressed to create beautiful impressions.
Chapter Books - Children's book that is long enough to be split into chapters, yet not long enough or deep enough to be identified as a novel is known as a "chapter book." Chapter books are often illustrated, but not anywhere as much as a picture book. Chapter books tend to be particularly popular with 7-10 year-olds as transitional books between beginning reader books and novels.
